WELCOME to HYGGE RANCH

This part of our HYGGE Adventure started in February 2022 when we purchased our 160 acre ranch just north of Edmonton, Alberta. We craved a life of simplicity, surrounded by nature, where we could recharge our souls. Little did we know, this would be the beginning of an epic odyssey! Now, we're thriving as we take care of this land and watch it flourish, so it can keep on giving back to us. This new path has opened our eyes to a world of possibilities and we're soaking up every moment, especially the juicy tomatoes!

In our debut summer season, we were like mad scientists, adding every animal imaginable to our farm. Chickens for eggs, meat, geese, ducks, rabbits, cats, and even canine guardians! We were constantly learning about these creatures and figuring out how to keep them happy and healthy. We kicked off a small garden with no expectations, just curious to see what would thrive or barely survive. We even opened up our pastures for our neighbor's cattle, which made for some hilarious interactions.

We were in experimentation mode, testing every idea that came to mind. And boy, did we hit the jackpot with our first batch of 100 chickens. The taste was out of this world, and we knew then and there that we couldn't go back to horrid grocery store poultry. That's when we decided to launch our pastured poultry plans, and by year 2 we had even acquired our own farm slaughter license! Our friends and family were thrilled to have access to nutrient dense meat that was locally grown.

But wait, there's more! As I casually scrolled through Marketplace, a greenhouse listing caught my eye. I jokingly forwarded the link to Steve with a cheeky Christmas wish. And guess what? He said yes! (I think he just forgot the laughing emoji) No questions asked, no fine print read. So, we hit the road in the middle of winter, braving the crazy weather to pick up the disassembled greenhouse. Just another day in the life of two fearless dreamers, always up for a wild project.

Season two was in for a wild ride! We decided to spice things up by welcoming 5 little piggies to the farm, taking on the mammoth task of constructing the greenhouse, and carrying on with raising our meat birds. Oh, and did we mention we hosted a full-blown family reunion? Our farm was the perfect place for all our loved ones to come and play!
